Cardio Tennis

Cardio Tennis is a high energy fitness class that combines the best features of the sport of tennis with cardiovascular exercise, delivering a full body, calorie burning workout.

It is a social and fun class for players of all ability levels taught by a tennis teaching professional. If you’ve never played tennis before it is a great way to be introduced to the sport or if you are an experienced tennis player it is a fun way to train for tennis.

Course content

This Tennis Coaching Class starts with a five minute interactive warm up (varied and involving throwing and catching and hitting in pairs), then 20 minutes of drill based activities (will vary dependant on ability of group), then 30 minutes of game based activities (again, will vary dependant on ability and size of the group and balls used), finishing with a warm down and stretch.

Throughout the session there will be cardio bursts which involve short bursts of vigorous activities to get the heart rate back up.

For Monday evening Cardio classes:

  • The total program is 9 weeks in duration.
  • The first 7 weeks are lessons, whilst the last 2 weeks are reserved for make-up lessons in case of bad weather during the term.
  • If there is no rain during the first 7 weeks of term, then we’ll gladly offer an extra 2 lessons during the last two weeks of term.
  • There are no lessons on the 11th June as it’s a public holiday long weekend.

Outcomes

1. It is a fun social group activity where players of all ability levels enjoy tennis together

2. Provides an interval training scenario which is the most effective way to achieve heart health and fitness

3. While you are ‘playing’ tennis the primary focus is on getting a great workout

4. You naturally improve your game because you always moving, hitting tons of balls and continuously being challenged.

5. As well as improving your skill, our tennis courses are designed to be fun and keep you moving.
